Fundus Fluorescein Angiography
A safe OPD procedure, this is a diagnostic tool for many retinal and macular diseases. In simple words, it is the angiography of the eye. The investigation procedure consists of injecting a dye – Sodium Fluorescein into one of the veins of the arm and taking rapid photographs of the retina. There is no discomfort to the patient during this test apart from the needle prick and a flash of the camera which is completely harmless. The information obtained from the study of this procedure aids the doctor in making a diagnosis and planning the required treatment.
Optical Coherence Tomogram
A very recent innovation and a landmark technique which has revolutionized the treatment for retinal diseases. The OCT is a non-invasive method of diagnosing retinal pathologies. It gives a cross section image of the retina. The newer generation OCT provides scans of the retina within just a few minutes.
